Residential Life

Lifestyle Plus: Through fun, educational, and social opportunities and exciting programs, the McCutcheon staff encourages residents to participate in activities that expose them to diverse people, thoughts, and ideas; provide opportunities for development; and build relationships that may last for a lifetime. The 16 resident assistants and the two staff residents will help residents create an atmosphere on their floor that supports academic and social needs of that particular group of residents. Together each floor will establish their home away from home.

Four learning communities for first year students are located in McCutcheon Hall:

  • CFS Honors
  • Coming of Age in America
  • Liberal Arts Honors
  • Science Honors

Through learning communities, students become members of a close-knit group of fellow students concentrating on a particular academic focus, theme or interest. Participants attend two to three of the same classes and take part in activities - planned by their instructors - outside of the classroom. These groups reside together on a floor and their resident assistant will assist in the building of the community. For more information contact:

The Royal Highlanders Club

The Royal Highlanders Club, the official student organization of McCutcheon Residence Hall, serves the residents by providing opportunities to enhance their educational experience through leadership development; representative government; and fun social, recreational, community service, and educational activities. The Royal Highlanders provide many opportunities throughout the year, including McCutcheon Madness competitions at the beginning of the year, athletic competitions, and community service programs. The Royal Highlanders student senate serves as the student government for McCutcheon residents and represents the residents to various student groups and the hall staff. Senators are elected to represent each floor and they plan events for the rest of the school year.

At the beginning of the year, all McCutcheon residents pay dues and are automatically members of the club and able to benefit from all the services the Royal Highlanders provide. The six executive officers of the Royal Highlanders and the senate develop their personal and professional leadership skills as they learn and practice personnel motivation and management, financial planning and budgeting, and program development - real life skills. We encourage you to become involved in the Royal Highlanders to plan and present the activities that interest you, while you develop your leadership skills and have a lot of fun!
