Purdue Village History

The apartments were built in the late 1950's and early 1960's at a time where there were many students with families attending Purdue. There were just over 1500 apartments including what is now Hilltop apartments. As the demand for family housing decreased, the demand for single student undergraduate housing increased and some of the apartments have been used for the single undergraduate population. Currently, there are approximately 1000 apartments that are occupied by students with families. We continue to expand our Undergraduate area and will house over 300 students in apartments along State Street beginning Fall of 2007.  With the development of Discovery Park, it is anticipated that the future of Purdue Village will be that only everything South of Nimitz Drive will remain which leaves 644 apartments for students with families. Planning is taking place for renovation of the 644 apartments that are remaining with the goal of modestly improving the apartments and keeping the rates as low as possible.
