The building
known as the Edward C. Elliott Hall of Music was dedicated on May
3-4 1940 to the expansion of the human mind. From its beginning, the
Hall of Music has been a place of people.
Below
is a paragraph appearing in the dedication brochure:
The new Hall of Music, then, will serve Purdue University’s
first purpose-the building of its students into adequate and cultured
citizens of the world. But it will do more than that. The University
has a service to perform to the citizens of the State, some thirty
or thirty-five thousand of whom come to its campus every year for
the increase of their interest and the renewal of their knowledge
in their special fields of action. Now they will be served as they,
supporters of Purdue University, should be served.
