Edward C. Elliott, president of Purdue University from 1922 –
1945, envisioned a new state-of-of-the-art music hall at Purdue as
early as 1934. He wanted a facility large enough to accommodate the
growing University’s commencement exercises and a building that
would symbolize what the University could become. That he could have
such a vision in the depths of the Great Depression speaks of the
kind of man he was; his ability to make the dream a reality documents
the kind of results he could achieve.
