J.
Andre Fouilhoux, designer of New York’s Radio City Music Hall,
served as the consulting architect and the two buildings show striking
similarity in design. For example, both use an art deco motif, features
wide staircases ascending to the auditorium, use cantilevered balconies
and both contain wide main floors.
F.R. Wason, University
of Illinois, was the consulting acoustical engineer. John Johnson,
an artist from Frankfort, Indiana, created the impressive sculptures
that grace the sides of the building. The three carved stone figures
represent music, drama, and forensics, the main activities for which
the building was constructed.
