Architect
Joseph Baker conceived the outdoor musical structure in the concept
of Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England. The side and back walls of the
stage were formed of stelae similar to the stone monoliths that comprise
Stonehenge. The space between the stelae, were filled in with broken
rough blocks of yellow French glass with black epoxy-resin. The stelae
were formed in poly-cylindrical, concave-convex shapes for proper
sound diffusion. The “concrete cloud” design of the ceiling
was comprised of alternating concave and convex poly-undulant sections
and was completely suspended from above by stainless steel cables
from the self-oxidizing steel tripod.
