Summer Housing for Undergraduates

Location

Earhart Hall

Undergraduate students enrolled in the first 2008 Summer Session (Maymester) will be housed in double rooms in Earhart Hall. A limited number of single rooms will also be available at Earhart for the summer. The rate for a double room in Earhart Hall is $467 per person, for the four-week session, and the rate for a single room at Earhart Hall is $635 for the four-week session.

Hilltop Apartments

In addition to Earhart Hall, Hilltop Apartments will provide summer housing accommodations to students enrolled for the second and third summer sessions only in a two person, one bedroom apartment. All spaces will be air-conditioned. The rate for a two person, one bedroom apartment at Hilltop Apartments for the second and third summer sessions is $475 per person, per four-week session.

Meal Plans

Meal plans will not be offered for any of the summer sessions; however, students may purchase an Open Dining Meal Card to eat in University Residences Dining Facilities. For 25 meal swipes, the cost is $195.00. Open Dining Cards may be purchased at Smalley Center upon arrival. Students may also purchase meals with a BoilerExpress Debit Account.

Application Process

If you desire accommodations for any or all of the summer sessions, print and complete the application and forward it along with a $75 housing deposit to: Fax (765) 494-0718 or mail to:

If you wish to fax your summer housing application, you will be required to pay the $75 housing deposit by credit card.

When we have confirmed that you have been approved for summer enrollment, we will send you a housing contract that you will need to accept or reject. ONCE YOU ACCEPT THE CONTRACT, YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO FULFILL ALL THE OBLIGATIONS OF THE CONTRACT IF YOU ARE ENROLLED AT THE WEST LAFAYETTE CAMPUS FOR ANY OF THE THREE SUMMER SESSIONS.

Cancellation Requests

New students not currently enrolled at the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University who cancel their housing application in writing with University Residences will receive a refund of the housing deposit as follows: before May 1, $75; May 1-May 31, $25; June 1 and after, no refund. Current University students who cancel their housing application in writing with University Residences will receive a refund of the housing deposit as follows: before June 1, $25; June 1 and after, no refund.

Move-In Date

Students who accept the contract may move in any time after 9:00 a.m. on the beginning date printed on their contract at no additional cost. If approved to do so, students moving in before the start of the contract or moving out after the contract end date will be assessed an additional fee.

Amenities

Double and single rooms in Earhart are study/sleeping rooms, not small apartments. Cooking in the rooms at Earhart Hall is NOT permitted. There are kitchenettes where light cooking may be done located throughout Earhart Hall. Small electrical appliances such as coffeepots, popcorn poppers, refrigerators, and microwaves are permitted in student rooms. Hilltop Apartments will offer two person, one bedroom apartment air-conditioned units that include a kitchen and bathroom.

Room Assignments

Student contracts will be for double or single space at Earhart Hall and/or for a two person, one bedroom apartment at Hilltop Apartments. Notification of specific room assignment will be made when you check-in at Earhart Hall and/or Hilltop Apartments. All assignments will be made on a first come, first served basis for students who accept their summer housing contracts, space permitting.

Guest Policy

The guest plan approved for the 2007-08 Academic Year, which complies with the guidelines established by the Purdue University Board of Trustees, will be in effect during the summer session.

The guest hour’s policy allows 24-hour visitation, seven days a week. At the time the application is submitted, each student will have the option to elect to live in a room where no guest visitation privileges will be permitted (no guests of the opposite gender allowed at any time).

As a reminder, all University Residences facilities are designated as smoke free.
