Computer Training

All employees who are Housing and Food Services computer users are eligible for training to help them use their computers more productively.

Orientation Training - Supervisors should arrange for introductory training for all new employees who will be using a computer.  This training should be scheduled for the first or second day the employee is on the job.  Please contact HFS Computing IN ADVANCE to schedule the training.  The training will include a 20-30 minute introduction to logging on to the Housing and Food Services LAN and a tour of the software available on our computers.  This also gives the computing staff time to assess the user's computer capabilities and talk to them about training classes.

Student Employees - Student Employees will be expected to complete an SLA (Service Level Agreement) once they have been trained by an HFS Computing staff member.

ITaP Courses - Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) offers many courses to the Purdue community. Go to the ITaP Training Site to view the complete list of courses. Of particular interest to HFS computer users are the following:

  • Computer Literacy courses
  • Microsoft Access 2003 courses
  • Microsoft Outlook 2003 courses
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 courses
  • Microsoft Excel 2003 courses
  • Microsoft Word 2003 courses
  • PageCenter
