If I cannot login and sign my contract today, will my chances of being assigned to my first preference choice decrease as time passes before I’m able to login?
  • 2020 Spring Semester - Priority is established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.
  • 2020-2021 Academic Year - New students to University Residences who sign a housing contract by the new student contract deadline of May 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT will be randomly prioritized in the housing assignment process. Priority is NOT established by the date the 2020-2021 housing contract is signed.

I'm not certain that I am attending Purdue University. Should I sign a housing contract?
  • 2020 Spring Semester - If you plan to attend Purdue University for the 2020 Spring Semester, you should sign a housing contract at your earliest convenience to establish your priority for assignment to University Residences. If you later decide not to attend Purdue University for the 2020 Spring Semester, you may cancel your signed housing contract by the new student spring semester contract cancellation deadline of December 1, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST. After December 1, 2019, your signed housing contract may only be cancelled if you are not attending Purdue University at the West Lafayette campus during the contract term. However, you will not receive a refund of the housing contract processing fee.
  • 2020-2021 Academic Year - If you plan to attend Purdue University for the 2020-2021 Academic Year, you should sign a housing contract by the new student contract deadline of May 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. If you later decide not to attend Purdue University for the 2020-2021 Academic Year, you may cancel your signed housing contract by the new student contract cancellation deadline of May 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. After May 5, 2020, your signed housing contract may only be cancelled if you are not attending Purdue University at the West Lafayette campus during the contract term. However, you will not receive a refund of the housing contract processing fee.

I am not attending Purdue University. How do I cancel my housing contract?
  • 2020 Spring Semester - If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2020 Spring Semester, you will need to cancel your housing contract online at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal. If you have already been assigned to a room for the 2020 Spring Semester, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2020 Spring Semester. Your email message should be sent to: urcancelrequest@purdue.edu.
  • 2020-2021 Academic Year - If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2020-2021 Academic Year, you will need to cancel your housing contract online at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal. After May 5, 2020, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Your email message should be sent to: urcancelrequest@purdue.edu.

Can I change my Pay Plan?

As the University payment plan is administered by the Bursar's Office, requests to change a payment plan will need to be directed to the Bursar's Office.

What residences are air conditioned?

The following residences provide air conditioning in their student rooms:

    • Suites in Cary Quadrangle (except for Cary South Hall) Note: New students may be assigned to rooms in Cary South Hall as the suites at Cary will most likely be filled in advance by current residents.

Am I required to make a payment at this time?
  • For the 2020 Spring Semester - Of the University admission acceptance deposit you have already paid, $100 will be applied as your nonrefundable housing contract processing fee – after you sign a housing contract. This will be reflected in your MyPurdue portal beginning in November. Current students presently living off campus: You will be assessed a nonrefundable $100 housing contract processing fee after you sign a housing contract. This charge will be reflected in your MyPurdue portal beginning in November. The housing contract processing fee will be waived for students returning to University Residences from Industrial Co-op, Study Abroad, Military or for a medical reason.

When is the deadline to sign a housing contract?
  • For the 2020 Spring Semester: There isn't a deadline for new students to University Residences to sign a spring semester housing contract. However, priority for room assignment will be established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.
  • For the 2020-2021 Academic Year: The deadline for new students to University Residences to sign a housing contract and be guaranteed housing in University Residences is May 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. New students to University Residences who sign a housing contract by the May 5th deadline will be randomly prioritized in the housing assignment process. Priority is NOT established by the date the housing contract is signed.

Am I required to find a roommate before I sign my housing contract?
  • Spring 2020 - Students who do not have an accepted roommate request will be assigned with a roommate considering the responses to the Personal Preference questions you and other new incoming students have answered.
  • Academic Year 2020-21 - Students who do not have an accepted roommate request will be assigned with a roommate considering the responses to the Personal Preference questions you and other new incoming students have answered.
Are roommate requests guaranteed?
  • Spring 2020 - As space in University Residences is limited for the 2020 Spring Semester, it may not be possible to accommodate roommate requests.
  • Academic Year 2020-21 - Due to the continued growth and demand for the academic and residential living/learning housing component of all our residences, accepted roommate requests submitted by the new student housing contract deadline of May 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT will be considered but are not guaranteed (based upon space availability). It is possible that roommate requests may be assigned together, but in a triple, quad or apartment. Students in Learning Communities will not be assigned with a requested roommate who isn’t also in the same Learning Community.
When am I obligated to this housing contract?
  • For the 2020 Spring Semester: Once you enter your Purdue University ID Number twice to sign a housing contract, this is considered a legal electronic signature. You may cancel your signed contract online until 11:59 p.m., December 1, 2019 EDT. Beginning December 2, 2019, your signed contract may only be cancelled if you do not attend Purdue University during the contract period. Students will not be released from their housing contract to live in a sorority, fraternity, apartment, cooperative housing, private home, or other place of residence or as a result of a change in financial status.
  • For the 2020-2021 Academic Year: Once you enter your Purdue University ID Number twice to sign a housing contract, this is considered a legal electronic signature. You may cancel your signed contract online until May 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Beginning May 6, 2020, your signed contract may only be cancelled if you do not attend Purdue University during the contract period. I have signed a housing contract and I am not attending Purdue University. Can I be released from my housing contract?
  • 2020 Spring Semester: If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2020 Spring Semester, you will need to cancel your signed housing contract online at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal. If you have already been assigned to a room, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2020 Spring Semester. Your email message should be sent to: urcancelrequest@purdue.edu.
  • 2020-2021 Academic Year:  If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2020-2021 Academic Year, you will need to cancel your signed housing contract online at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal. After May 5, 2020, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2020-2021 Academic Year. Your email message should be sent to: urcancelrequest@purdue.edu.

Can I change my Meal Plan?
  • For the 2020 Spring Semester: Meal plans may be changed at any time to increase the number of meal swipes per week. Meal plans may only be downgraded prior to January 13, 2020. Meal plan changes should be made at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal.
  • For the 2020-2021 Academic Year:  The deadline to lower your meal plan is Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.  Students assigned to Hawkins Hall, Hilltop Apartments, Purdue Village Undergraduate, or the UR Boiler Apartments who want to change to a room-only plan also must change their meal plan selection to room only no later than Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.  Students may choose to upgrade their meal plan any time during the semester.

How do I change my personal information?

If any of your personal information is incorrect, you must change your personal information within the myPurdue Web site. If your gender is not correct, you will need to contact the Admissions Office at (765) 494-1776. Please allow up to 72 hours for the housing contract portal to reflect any changes made to your personal information on the myPurdue Web site.

I’m interested in installing a loft in my room in University Residences. When can I obtain information about lofts?
  • For the 2020 Spring Semester, you will receive specific information about installing a loft in your room along with your Notice of Assignment. You will receive this information on or about December 13, 2019 at your Purdue email address. View Loft Guidelines & Options

When will I be notified of my residence assignment?
  • For the 2020 Spring Semester, you will be notified of your residence assignment information on or about December 13, 2019, at your Purdue email address.
  • For the 2020-2021 Academic Year, you will be notified of your residence assignment information on or about July 15, 2020, at your Purdue email address.

How is priority established for assignment to space in University Residences?
  • For the 2020 Spring Semester, priority is established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.
  • For the 2020-2021 Academic Year, priority is NOT established by the date the housing contract is signed. Instead, all new students to University Residences who have signed a housing contract by the new student contract deadline of May 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EDT will be randomly prioritized in the housing assignment process.
