If I cannot login and sign my contract today, will my chances of being assigned to my first preference choice decrease as time passes before I’m able to login?
  • 2018 Spring Semester - Priority is established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.

  • 2018-2019 Academic Year - New students to University Residences who sign a housing contract by the new student contract deadline of May 5, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EDT will be randomly prioritized in the housing assignment process. Priority is NOT established by the date the 2018-2019 housing contract is signed.

I'm not certain that I am attending Purdue University. Should I sign a housing contract?
  • 2018 Spring Semester - If you plan to attend Purdue University for the 2018 Spring Semester, you should sign a housing contract at your earliest convenience to establish your priority for assignment to University Residences. If you later decide not to attend Purdue University for the 2018 Spring Semester, you may cancel your signed housing contract by the new student spring semester contract cancellation deadline of December 1, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. After December 1, 2017, your signed housing contract may only be cancelled if you are not attending Purdue University at the West Lafayette campus during the contract term. However, you will not receive a refund of the housing contract processing fee.

  • 2018-2019 Academic Year - If you plan to attend Purdue University for the 2018-2019 Academic Year, you should sign a housing contract by the new student contract deadline of May 5, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. If you later decide not to attend Purdue University for the 2018-2019 Academic Year, you may cancel your signed housing contract by the new student contract cancellation deadline of May 5, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. After May 5, 2018, your signed housing contract may only be cancelled if you are not attending Purdue University at the West Lafayette campus during the contract term. However, you will not receive a refund of the housing contract processing fee.

I am not attending Purdue University. How do I cancel my housing contract?
  • 2018 Spring Semester - If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2018 Spring Semester, you will need to cancel your housing contract online at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal.  If you have already been assigned to a room for the 2018 Spring Semester, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2018 Spring Semester. Your E-mail message should be sent to: urcancelrequest@purdue.edu.

  • 2018-2019 Academic Year - If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2018-2019 Academic Year, you will need to cancel your housing contract online at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal. After May 5, 2018, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. Your E-mail message should be sent to: urcancelrequest@purdue.edu.

Can I change my Pay Plan?

As the University payment plan is administered by the Bursar's Office, requests to change a payment plan will need to be directed to the Bursar's Office.

What residences are air conditioned?

The following residences provide central air conditioning in their student rooms:

  • Men’s Residences
    • Blackbird Farms
    • Suites in Cary Quadrangle (except for Cary South Hall) Note: New students may be assigned to rooms in Cary South Hall as the suites at Cary will most likely be filled in advance by current students.
  • Co-ed Residences
    • The Cottages
    • Earhart Hall
    • First Street Towers
    • Harrison Hall
    • Hawkins Hall (for sophomores and above)
    • Hillenbrand Hall
    • Honors College and Residences
    • McCutcheon Hall
    • 414 North Russell
    • Shreve Hall
    • Third Street Suites
    • 125 Waldron
    • In addition, some of Hilltop Apartments include a window air-conditioning unit in the apartment.
    • Students assigned to Hilltop Apartments that do not have an air conditioning unit are eligible to have air conditioning in their apartment by bringing their own window air-conditioner unit and paying an additional installation fee.
  • Women's Residence

Am I required to make a payment at this time?
  • For the 2018 Spring Semester - Of the $400 University acceptance deposit you have already paid, $100 will be applied as your nonrefundable housing contract processing fee – after you sign a housing contract.  This will be reflected in your MyPurdue portal beginning in December.  Current students presently living off campus:  You will be assessed a nonrefundable $100 housing contract processing fee after you sign a housing contract.  This charge will be reflected in your MyPurdue portal beginning in December.  The housing contract processing fee will be waived for students returning to University Residences from Industrial Co-op, Study Abroad, Military, or for a medical reason.

When is the deadline to sign a housing contract?
  • For the 2018 Spring Semester:  There isn’t a deadline for new students to University Residences to sign a spring semester housing contract.  However, priority for room assignment will be established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.

  • For the 2018-2019 Academic Year: The deadline for new students to University Residences to sign a housing contract and be guaranteed housing in University Residences is May 5, 2018. New students to University Residences who sign a housing contract by the May 5th deadline will be randomly prioritized in the housing assignment process. Priority is NOT established by the date the housing contract is signed.

What if I don't know my requested roommate's Purdue Career Account Login?
  1. Visit the Purdue Directory to look up their Career Acct. Login.
  2. At the Search the Purdue Directory screen, type your requested roommate’s first and last name (no nicknames).
  3. Click on the magnifying glass icon.
  4. The Purdue Career Acct. Login (alias) will be displayed. This is what you will need to enter to request your roommate.
    NOTE: If you can’t find the person you are searching for, they have not yet accepted their offer of admission.
  5. Close the Purdue Directory Window.
  6. Enter your requested roommate’s Career Acct. Login in the Contract system.
When am I obligated to this housing contract?
  • For the 2018 Spring Semester: Once you enter your Purdue University ID Number twice to sign a housing contract, this is considered a legal electronic signature. You may cancel your signed contract online until 11:59 p.m., December 1, 2017 EDT. Beginning December 2, 2017, your signed contract may only be cancelled if you do not attend Purdue University during the contract period. Students will not be released from their housing contract to live in a sorority, fraternity, apartment, cooperative housing, private home, or other place of residence or as a result of a change in financial status.

  • For the 2018-2019 Academic Year: Once you enter your Purdue University ID Number twice to sign a housing contract, this is considered a legal electronic signature. You may cancel your signed contract online until 11:59 p.m., May 5, 2018 EDT. Beginning May 6, 2018, your signed contract may only be cancelled if you do not attend Purdue University during the contract period. Students will not be released from their housing contract to live in a sorority, fraternity, apartment, cooperative housing, private home, or other place of residence or as a result of a change in financial status.

I have signed a housing contract and I am not attending Purdue University. Can I be released from my housing contract?
  • 2018 Spring Semester:  If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2018 Spring Semester, you will need to cancel your signed housing contract online at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal.  If you have already been assigned to a room, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2018 Spring Semester. Your E-mail message should be sent to: urcancelrequest@purdue.edu.

  • 2018-2019 Academic Year:  If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2018-2019 Academic Year, you will need to cancel your signed housing contract online at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal. After May 5, 2018, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. Can I change my Meal Plan?
  • For the 2018 Spring Semester: Traditional meal plans may be changed at any time to increase the number of meal swipes per week. Traditional meal plans may be decreased or switched to the Boiler Block Plan or Boiler Gold Plan prior to January 8, 2018.  Meal plan changes should be made at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal.

  • For the 2018-2019 Academic Year: Traditional meal plans may be changed at any time to increase the number of meal swipes per week. Traditional meal plans may be decreased or switched to the Boiler Block Plan or Boiler Gold Plan prior to the first day of the fall semester contract. Meal plan changes should be made at https://myhousing.purdue.edu/StarRezPortal.

How do I change my personal information?

If any of your personal information is incorrect, you must change your personal information within the myPurdue Web site. If your gender is not correct, you will need to contact the Admissions Office at (765) 494-1776. Please allow up to 72 hours for the housing contract portal to reflect any changes made to your personal information on the myPurdue Web site.

I’m interested in installing a loft in my room in University Residences. When can I obtain information about lofts?
  • For the 2018 Spring Semester, you will receive specific information about installing a loft in your room along with your Notice of Assignment. You will receive this information on or about December 1, 2017, at your Purdue Email account. View Loft Guidelines & Options

When will I be notified of my residence assignment?
  • For the 2018 Spring Semester, you will be notified of your residence assignment information on or about December 1, 2017, at your Purdue Email address.

  • For the 2018-2019 Academic Year, you will be notified of your residence assignment information on or about July 15, 2018, at your Purdue Email address.

How is priority established for assignment to space in University Residences?
  • For the 2018 Spring Semester, priority is established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.

  • For the 2018-2019 Academic Year, priority is NOT established by the date the housing contract is signed. Instead, all new students to University Residences who have signed a housing contract by the new student contract deadline of May 5, 2018, will be randomly prioritized in the housing assignment process.
