Summer School 

Summer school is available for undergraduate students who are taking summer session classes or who will be completing summer research for an academic department at Purdue University during the summer session. Due to the increased demand for summer session housing, double room occupancy only will be offered. All summer room assignments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis – space permitting. Notification of summer room assignments will be sent on or about May 7, 2021 to the student’s Purdue email address.

Students with contracts that end Aug 9 are able to move over to their fall assignment but there is a $32 a day fee for the dates in between the summer and academic year contract.  The fee is for housing only and does not include meals.  To find out when you are able to move into your fall assignment, please contact the main office of your fall hall around the first week of August.

Summer Start

New students admitted to the Summer Start program will be required to sign a Summer Plus Housing Contract for the summer and following academic year terms. Summer Start students will be housed in a double room and are required to have a roommate also participating in the Summer Start program. All efforts will be made to keep program participants together for the full academic year, but it is not guaranteed. This program is available for new incoming students admitted to the program.

 EL Science Scholars

Early Start

New students opting to participate in the Early Start program and want to live in University Residences will be required to sign a Summer Session housing contract for the Early Start session and will be housed in a double room and are required to have a roommate that is also participating in the Early Start program.  

Early Start Important Note:  If they plan to continue living in University Residences for the academic year, they will also be required to sign an academic year housing contract by May 5, 2021 at 11:55 p.m. EDT.  Students who sign an academic year housing contract by May 5, 2021 will be randomly prioritized in the housing assignment process for their academic year room assignment. This program is only available for new incoming students opting to start during summer.

* The Early Start contract goes until Aug 15 however, Early Start students must move by Aug 9 to allow time to have the rooms cleaned for incoming students.  You are able to move over to your fall assignent at that time.  You will not be charged extra up until August 15th.  If you are registered for BGR then that will cover your housing cost for the 15th - 19th however if you are not participating in BGR then you will be billed $32 a day early arrival fees for August 15 - 19.  This fee is for housing only and does not include meals.  

Important Notes:

  • Once you contract for summer housing, you will be expected to fulfill all the terms and conditions of the selected summer contracted session term.
  • After accepting your offer of admission, wait up to two business days to gain access to the housing contract.
  • Your room and meal plan charges will be assessed for the entiresummer session term you choose and sign a contract for – regardless of late arrival or early check-out.  You will need to select one summer session term that best meets your housing needs.
  • Summer room and meal plan charges will be assessed and will appear in your MyPurdue account beginning in May.
  • Students who live on campus during the summer are required to take a 13-Meal Plan.
  • While we try to accommodate roommate requests, we cannot assure these requests will be met.
  • If you have a 2021-2022 Academic Year contract with University Residences, early move-in to your fall assignment may be available for an additional fee.
  • Deadline to cancel summer contracts is May 5, 2021
  • Movement from summer housing to fall contracted housing may result in a $32/day charge

Meal Plan

A required 13-meal plan will be included in the 2021 Summer Contract.  Meal swipes may be used in any of the Purdue Dining & Culinary’s residential dining courts that are serving.  In addition to 13 meals per week, students will also receive an allotment of Dining Dollars, based upon the selected summer contracted session term. 

  • Summer meal swipes and Dining Dollars will start on the Monday breakfast of the contracted summer session term. 
  • Dining Dollars will be distributed on a pro-rated weekly basis for the contracted summer session term
  • Dining Dollars are non -refundable 
  • Dining Dollars will expire at the end of the contracted summer session term
  • Dining Dollars will not carry over to the fall semester

Dining Dollars may be used to purchase extra meals for themselves or their accompanying guest in Purdue Dining & Culinary residential and retail dining locations

Amenities

All spaces will be air conditioned.  Double rooms are study/sleeping rooms, not small apartments.  Small electrical appliances such as coffee pots, popcorn poppers, refrigerators, and microwaves are permitted in student rooms.

Parking

Students who have signed a 2021 Summer Session Contract for their contracted summer session term will be eligible to park in any designated University Residences white-signed parking space with no charge.


Guest Policy

Residents are permitted to have one Purdue West Lafayette student guest in their residential living community. A residential living community is defined as any space beyond a swipe access point/key controlled door that grants access to floor hallways and lounges, stairwells, and individual student rooms/apartments. Within individual student rooms/apartments, residents are permitted to have one Purdue West Lafayette student guest per occupant of that room/apartment.

For example, if the space has one assigned resident that allows one guest for total of two people. Two assigned residents allow for one guest each, which is a total of four people. Three assigned residents with one guest each is a total of six people. Resident roommates of the room must agree on any visitors.
