Opened in 1963, McCutcheon Hall offers traditional-style living with standard rooms, shared community bathrooms, and air conditioning throughout the building. The hall features a variety of common spaces for studying, socializing, and group work, making it easy to stay connected and engaged. Located on the west side of campus, McCutcheon provides convenient access to nearby dining courts and transportation options, offering a comfortable and well-connected residential experience.
The hall is named for John Tinney McCutcheon, an editorial cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune. He was born in 1870 in Tippecanoe County, the home of Purdue University. He was a world traveler and served as a war correspondent at the Battle of Manila Bay in 1898, the Boer War in South Africa, and World War I. He received the Pulitzer Prize for cartoons in 1931. According to Purdue Libraries, McCutcheon is often referred to as the Dean of American Cartoonists. His wife donated some of his original drawings to Purdue. You can learn more about John T.
