Summer Intern Housing in West Lafayette

Make your summer internship experience even better by living right on campus! University Residences at Purdue University now offers two great housing options for summer interns! Hawkins Hall and First Street Towers.

Choose the living environment that fits your lifestyle: Hawkins Hall offers a traditional residence hall experience with community-style restrooms, while First Street Towers provides added privacy with suite-style rooms and private bathrooms.

Both locations provide affordable, comfortable, and convenient housing just steps from campus amenities and local attractions.

Summer internship housing is available May 24 – August 8, 2026, with bookings available Sunday to Saturday and a 30-night minimum stay. Whether you’re working on campus or in the Greater Lafayette area, University Residences offers the ideal home base for your summer adventure.

Application Information

The summer 2026 Intern Housing request portal will open on Monday, November 3, 2025.

This is a 2-part application process. Once the necessary documents have been submitted, a member of the Purdue Housing Team will review them. If approved, the Individual will receive an email to complete the application process by submitting payment and selecting housing. A confirmation email will be sent to the Individual once the reservation has been completed/confirmed.

Application Deadline: Submission must be completed three weeks prior to arrival date. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Depending on demand, rooms may not be available into the summer. Once rooms are no longer available, the portal will be turned off.

Cancellation/Reservation Changes: All cancellations must be received via email by Friday, May 1st at 11:59 pm to be eligible for a refund. Cancellations or changes to a reservation made after May 1st at 11:59 pm are not refundable.

Requirements

Each participant must meet the following requirements:

  • 18+ Years of Age
  • Enrolled in a Higher Education, Degree-Seeking Program
  • Enrolled in an internship at Purdue University or the Greater Lafayette Area
  • Must abide by the guidelines of behavior for University Residences
  • Must abide by the 2026 Summer Intern Housing Agreement (preview agreement here) 

Applying and Reserving Your Space

During the application process, the following documents will need to be uploaded:

  • Proof of enrollment in a degree-seeking program
  • Proof of employment with your internship
  • Completed departmental account transfer form (department pay option only)
  • Completed company/corporate pay form (company/corporate pay option only) 

A $75.00 non-refundable application fee is required and will automatically be charged through the application process.

Payment Options

Participants have the following options for payment:

  • Purdue Departmental Account Transfer Option (download form here)
If the department with whom you are interning is paying for your housing, a departmental account transfer form will need to be completed. This form will be made available during the registration process and also above. Please have the departmental account transfer document completed and signed by a departmental authority. The $75.00 application fee will be assessed through the departmental billing and account transfer; therefore will not need to be paid by the intern to reserve a space.
  • Self-Pay Option
Pay the full amount of your stay with a major credit card or debit card at the time of online registration. Registration is not complete until full payment has been received.
  • Company Pay Option (download form here)
If the company with whom you are interning is paying for your housing, a company pay form will need to be completed. This form will be made available during the registration process and also above. Please have the company pay document completed and signed by a company authority. The $75.00 application fee will be assessed through the company pay form and, therefore, will not need to be paid by the intern to reserve a space.

Meal Plan Options for Interns

Interns living in University Residences have the option to purchase a flexible meal plan for convenient dining throughout the summer. 

  • Where you can use your meal swipes: 

Meal swipes are valid at Earhart Dining Court, Wiley Dining Court, and Lawson On-the-Go during operating hours. View dining hours of operation here. 

*Note: Both dining courts will be closed on Memorial Day (May 25) and July 4.

  • Available Meal Plans:
    • 20 Meal Swipes - $258
    • 40 Meal Swipes - $516

Meal Plans can be purchased or repurchased through the Intern Housing portal. 

  • Deadlines to Purchase or Repurchase:
    • 20-Meal Plan: Available through July 20, 2026
    • 40-Meal Plan: Available through July 13, 2026

*Please note: The 40-meal plan can only be purchased once and is not available for repurchase. 

  • Important Reminders:
    • Meal plans expire at the end of the Intern Housing season. 
    • No refunds will be issued for unused or accidentally purchased swipes. 
    • All sales are final. 

Arrival & Departure Information

  • If arriving prior to a Sunday check-in, the weekly rate is not prorated. Only full weeks are available; otherwise, space is not guaranteed.
  • Arrival can be at any time on Sunday; the main office of Hawkins is open 24/7.
  • Check-out on Saturday must be by 12:00 pm (noon).

Amenities

Hawkins Hall 

  • All rooms are air-conditioned, fully furnished (linens not included), and include Wi-Fi and cable television hookup.
  • All interns are provided a single bedroom, along with community-shared bathrooms. No single with a private bathroom is available at Hawkins Hall. 
  • There is an industrial kitchen within the residence hall, for which you will need your own cooking supplies. Limited refrigerator space is available in the kitchen and is available for short-term food storage for summer residents. 
  • Mini-fridges are available to rent through BedLoft for an additional cost. The intern will work directly with BedLoft for ordering and payment. Place your order here! 
  • Located within walking distance of numerous shops and restaurants, and is situated on the academic campus close to all main campus buildings.
  • Interns will have access to an exercise and workout facility, a 24-hour laundry facility, large lounge areas, a large main-floor kitchenette, and a 13th-floor lounge with a spectacular panoramic view of Purdue’s campus. 

First Street Towers

  • All rooms are air-conditioned, fully furnished (linens not included), and include Wi-Fi and cable television hookup.
  • All interns are provided a single bedroom with a private bathroom. 
  • Mini-fridges are available to rent through BedLoft for an additional cost. The intern will work directly with BedLoft for ordering and payment. Place your order here! 
  • Located on the residential side of campus, but only a 10-minute walk to numerous shops, restaurants, and the academic side of campus. 

Late Stays/Early Arrivals - Residents of University Residences

If you are a Purdue University student who is currently living in University Residences and/or will be living in University Residences in the fall, you may submit a late stay request and/or early arrival request. These requests can be made to accommodate you during the gap time frame between the end of the spring contract and the beginning of the summer term, as well as the gap of time between the end of the summer term and the beginning of the fall 2026 housing contract.

If you are planning to stay late until your internship contract begins, you will be responsible for paying $42/night. If you are planning to depart later than your internship contract, you will be responsible for paying $42/night. Both of these options will be assessed through your MyPurdue account.

Spring 2026 late stay requests will need to be coordinated with the hall clerk of your current residence hall. Fall 2026 early arrival requests must be coordinated with the hall clerk of your future residence hall.
