New students to University Residences are encouraged to submit a housing contract by April 15, 2022 to increase the chances of receiving on-campus housing. New students to University Residences who sign a housing contract by the new student contract deadline of May 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EDT will be prioritized in the housing assignment process. Housing assignments are made based upon availability and four general areas:

If you plan to attend Purdue University for the 2022-2023 Academic Year, you should sign a housing contract by the new student contract deadline of May 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. If you later decide not to attend Purdue University for the 2022-2023 Academic Year, you may cancel your signed housing contract by the new student contract cancellation deadline of May 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. After May 5, 2022, your signed housing contract may only be cancelled if you are not attending Purdue University at the West Lafayette campus during the contract term. However, you will not receive a refund of the housing contract processing fee.
If your plans have changed and you will not attend Purdue University for the 2022-2023 Academic Year, you will need to cancel your housing contract online on the housing portal.
After May 5, 2022, you will need to send an email message that includes your name, your Purdue University ID Number, and a note that you are not attending Purdue University for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. Your email message should be sent to our Housing email address here.
As the University payment plan is administered by the Bursar's Office, requests to change a payment plan will need to be directed to the Bursar's office.

Of the University admission acceptance deposit you have already paid, $200 will be applied as your nonrefundable housing contract processing fee – after you sign a housing contract. This will be reflected in your MyPurdue portal beginning in July. Current students presently living off campus: If space is available and you are offered a housing contract, you will be assessed a nonrefundable $200 housing contract processing fee after you sign a housing contract. This charge will be reflected in your MyPurdue portal beginning in July. The housing contract processing fee will be waived for students returning to University Residences from Industrial Co-op, Study Abroad, Military, or for a medical reason.
The deadline for new students to University Residences to sign a housing contract is May 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. However, contracts received after April 15, 2022 may not be assigned to an on-campus reidence, but may be assigned to a University Reidences Boiler Apartment (URBA) located on or close to campus. New students to University Residences who sign a housing contract by the May 5th deadline will be prioritized in the housing assignment process.
Students who do not have an accepted roommate request will be assigned with a roommate considering the responses to the Personal Preference questions you and other new incoming students have answered.
Roommate requests submitted by the priority deadline of April 15, 2022 will be approved as space permits and are subject to completed signed contracts, approved housing accommodations and medical AC requests, educational programs, and personal preferences respectively; however, roommate requests received after the priority deadline will be considered but are not guaranteed.
It is possible that roommate requests may be assigned together, but in a triple, quad or apartment.
Students in Learning Communities will not be assigned with a requested roommate who isn’t also in the same Learning Community.
Once you enter your Purdue University ID Number to sign a housing contract, this is considered a legal electronic signature. You may cancel your signed contract online until May 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Beginning May 6, 2022, your signed contract may only be cancelled if you do not attend Purdue University during the contract period. Students will not be released from their housing contract to live in a sorority, fraternity, apartment, cooperative housing, private home, or other place of residence or as a result of a change in financial status.

The deadline to lower your meal plan is Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Students assigned to Hawkins Hall and Hilltop Apartments who want to change to a room-only plan also must change their meal plan selection to room only no later than Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Students may choose to upgrade their meal plan any time during the semester. If any of your personal information is incorrect, you must change your personal information within the myPurdue website. If your gender is not correct, you will need to contact the Admissions Office at (765) 494-1776. Please allow up to 72 hours for the housing contract portal to reflect any changes made to your personal information on the myPurdue website.

There isn't a deadline for students to sign a spring semester housing contract. However, priority for room assignment will be established by the date the spring semester housing contract is signed.
We cannot guarantee all students wanting to sign a spring only contract will be able to do so. We will monitor the numbers and may have to close the portal if space is no longer available. If this occurs, we will start taking requests for a waitlist.
